喬治．戈登．拜倫（George Gordon Byron, 1788-1824）出身貴族，英俊瀟灑，是英國最富盛名的詩人，其詩篇旨自然、富涵哲理，遣詞用字新穎高雅、毫無矯揉造作之氣，所謂神來之筆，不同凡響。
SHE WALKS IN BEAUTY
She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that’s best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,

作者簡介：

張達聰
1931年生，湖北武昌人。
國立臺灣大學外國語文學系畢業。曾任翻譯官，之後獲外國語文碩士學位，通曉多國語文。1964年，參加全國性公務人員高等考試及格，名列編譯組榜首。
著作甚豐，已出版有：《翻譯之原理與技巧》、《模範英文作文寶典》、《英國偉大詩人傑作欣賞》、《英文翻譯練習典範》、《郵政窗口人員英語會話手冊》、《外文郵件批譯手冊》等。
